Cooking Tech – Stir fry

Today for tech, my group and I made stir fry, we washed our hands, put our aprons on and started listening to the instructions that Mrs Hamer instructed us with, She asked us to get our pans, saucepan, brown chopping board and a bowl with veggies inside.

The veggies were onions, brocilies, cauliflower and carrots, we sliced and diced all of it, we had to put water inside the saucepan and also the noodles. We turned on the stove for our pan to put the oil on and all the other veggies. We put it in, and stirred it a bit, Mrs Hamer also put some tofu in a bowl for us to cut in half and put it on the pan.

We took out our noodles and put them inside our lunch boxes, we turned off the stove and put the veggies on top of the noodles, someone said the prayer and we started eating, it was so delicious.

Maori Tech

Today for maori tech, we were learning a karakia, my tech teacher asked us why do we have to karakia for the start of the day, a fellow student raised their hand and said we karakia in the morning to start off our day.

Then our tech teacher said that we karakia in the morning to thank god for this lovely world we are in, she taught us that when we use the word te in maori it means the, she gave us examples like te ruru iti.

After that we made a document for all the maori words we made, we all finished our work and then we had a game of rakau, our tech teacher said that we have to know our rights and lefts in maori, we played a practise round and a lot of the students forgot the maui was left and matau was right.

We played another practise round and everyone got their rights and left right, we played more rounds of rakau, it was very fun.

Matariki Art

Today my class and I were making matariki art pieces.

When I did my matariki art, I painted the stars blue, yellow and white, I got some black paper and googled up sky tower silhouette, I found a picture that look very nice and I drew it on my black paper with a few other buildings, I cut it out and placed it on my matariki art work.

I also got a yellow jovi and coloured the building yellow so then from the inside it would look like the lights were on, I enjoyed making this piece of artwork and I hope to do it again.

Maori Tech

Today for tech my teacher Matua Harley didn’t come to tech because he was sick, so we had a new teacher and she was fun, our teacher was teaching us some Maori words, she told us to get a piece of paper out so then we could write down the new Maori words that she was going to tell us.

She told us that when we use the word he in maori, it means a or some, she told us more about maori language, then we had a game that included rakaus, we played the game twice then when the bell rang, we all rushed out the door to the bus so we could go back to our own school.

It was so much fun.

New Tech Rotation

Today was the first time that we rotated for tech, Last week the tech group that I was in was hard material, now I’m in robotics.

Robotics was very fun, my tech group teacher is Matua Harley, Matua Harley said that we had to introduce ourselves then we did, one thing that he said was that one of his favourite hobbies is playing rugby when he has free time, and also he said that he has teached maths, reading and writing for 17 years.

After we introduced ourselves we played a little game, the game was about earning our lefts and rights, but when we played Matua Harley said left and right in maori, then he said that left in maori is maui and right in maori is matau.

This game was very fun and funny because other students would get mixed up with their lefts and rights and even in maori.

I had a fun time in robotics.
